This website is operated by Wiley James Hat Company. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Wiley James Hat Company.

By visiting our site and/or purchasing from us, you engage in our service and agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. These Terms apply to all users of the site, including browsers, customers, and contributors.

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of those changes.

GENERAL USE

You agree to use this website for lawful purposes only. Any misuse, interference, or attempt to harm the integrity of the site or business will result in termination of service.

PRODUCTS & CRAFTSMANSHIP

Each hat is handcrafted, meaning no two pieces are identical. Variations in color, texture, distressing, and finish are part of the character of the piece and should not be considered defects.

We make every effort to display products accurately, but colors may vary slightly due to screen settings and natural materials.

CUSTOM ORDERS

Custom work is at the heart of what we do.

  • A non-refundable deposit is required to begin all custom hats

  • Production does not begin until the deposit is received

  • Once materials are cut or work has begun, the order cannot be canceled

  • Design details (style, fit, embellishments) must be approved before production

Because each hat is made to order, custom pieces are final sale

SIZING & FIT

Customers are responsible for providing accurate sizing.

We are happy to guide you through measuring, but we are not responsible for incorrect measurements submitted at the time of order.

Minor fit adjustments may be possible, but additional costs and shipping may apply.

PRODUCTION TIMES

All hats are made by hand, and timelines reflect that.

  • Standard turnaround times will be provided at the time of purchase

  • Delays may occur due to material availability, volume, or seasonality

  • We do not guarantee completion dates unless agreed upon in writing

Good work takes time—we value craftsmanship over speed.

PRICING & PAYMENTS

Prices are subject to change without notice.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion. If a cancellation occurs after payment, you will be notified and refunded accordingly (excluding non-refundable deposits on custom work).

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

Due to the nature of handcrafted goods:

  • Custom hats are final sale

  • Ready-to-wear items may be eligible for exchange (not refund) within your defined timeframe (e.g., 7–14 days)

  • Items must be unworn and in original condition

Shipping costs are non-refundable.

HAT CARE & RESPONSIBILITY

Our hats are made to be worn and lived in, but they still require care.

We are not responsible for damage caused by:

  • Water exposure

  • Improper storage

  • Rough handling or misuse

Care instructions are provided and should be followed to maintain the integrity of your piece.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We may use third-party platforms (such as Squarespace) to operate our store. We are not responsible for issues arising from third-party services.

LIABILITY

All products and services are provided “as is” without guarantees beyond what is stated.

Wiley James Hat Company is not liable for any damages resulting from the use or misuse of our products.

TERMINATION

We reserve the right to refuse service or terminate access at any time if these Terms are violated.

GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada.

DESIGN OWNERSHIP

All designs created by Wiley James Hat Company remain the intellectual property of the company.

While we welcome inspiration images, we do not replicate the work of other hatmakers or brands. Each piece is interpreted through our own design process.

We reserve creative control over all custom designs.

CUSTOMER-PROVIDED MATERIALS

If you provide materials (such as hat bands, vintage pieces, or sentimental items), you do so at your own risk.

While we handle all items with care, Wiley James Hat Company is not responsible for damage, loss, or wear that may occur during the hatmaking process and shipping.

SHIPPING, LOSS & DAMAGE

Once an order has been shipped, Wiley James Hat Company is not responsible for delays, loss, or damage caused by the carrier.

Customers are responsible for ensuring shipping information is accurate.

If additional insurance is desired, it must be requested at the time of purchase.

ORDER ABANDONMENT

If we are unable to reach you regarding your custom order (design approval, sizing, or final payment) for 30 days, we reserve the right to cancel or complete the order at our discretion. Deposits remain non-refundable.

FINAL PAYMENT

All custom orders must be paid in full prior to shipping or pickup.

ALTERATIONS & REPAIRS

Minor adjustments may be offered at our discretion.

Repairs or alterations after delivery may be subject to additional fees plus shipping.

NATURAL WEAR

Our hats are made from natural materials and are designed to age over time. Fading, softening, and subtle changes in shape are part of the character of the piece and not considered defects.

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE

Wiley James Hat Company reserves the right to refuse service or cancel orders at any time if a request falls outside our scope, values, or standards.

PHOTOGRAPHY & MARKETING

We reserve the right to photograph and share any hats we create for marketing, portfolio, or social media purposes unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

LOCAL PICKUP

Orders must be picked up within a reasonable timeframe. Items not collected within 30 days may be considered abandoned unless prior arrangements are made.
