Slow-crafted, every hat is made to weather the years to tell the stories of a life well lived.

Meet the Maker

Howdy,

I’m Jennifer Hipkins, the hands and heart behind Wiley James, a name that honors my grandfather and the legacy of craftsmanship he inspired in me.

I’m a self-taught hat maker, and every hat I create is made the old-fashioned way, by hand. From blocking and pouncing to sewing and shaping, I take pride in doing it all myself, ensuring each piece is made with care, intention, and a whole lot of soul.

I live on a farm in Northern Alberta with my husband and our four busy kids, who rodeo, play hockey, and keep us always on the move. This lifestyle keeps me grounded, and it’s why I believe so deeply in quality over quantity and in choosing slow fashion in a world that’s moving too fast.

Each hat is more than something you wear; it’s a piece of who you are. And I’m honored every time someone trusts me to help tell their story through something handmade, timeless, and truly personal.
